Blazers Drop Double Header Against FAU

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Softball team (11-15) dropped games one and two against #24 Florida Atlantic (26-4) on Friday.
IN THE INNINGS
Game One
A pitchers dual started the day off in Birmingham, AL in game one of FAU vs. UAB. No runs were scored until the fifth Inning when the Owls put up two.
UAB started freshman pitcher Tait Davidson who held a 5-5 record before the game started. She pitched 5.0 innings with one strikeout and five hits allowed. Both teams started off by loading the bases in the first inning, but both teams were able to get out of the jam.
Chloe Yeatts singled up the middle to score the first runs of the game in the fifth. FAU added two more runs on a Yeatts home run in the seventh inning. The owls led 4-0 after the top of the seventh. Jenna Madison scored an Auburn Dupree single through the right side.
Hannah Dorsett and Auburn Dupree were the only Blazers with hits in game one. FAU won 4-1.
Game Two
After a quick turnaround game two was underway with a few changes to the starting lineup to UAB. Antonia Henderson came into catch and Caroline McLendon started in the circle.
The Blazers started off the scoring in game two with a solo home run by Hannah Miles. This was her second of the season.
Dorsett scored in the third inning when Hope Tucker singled to center field. Caroline McLendon pitched four flawless innings allowing zero hits and retiring all 12 batters through the fourth inning.
FAU got their first hit in the fifth inning and scored a run on that one hit. UAB led 2-1 after five.
FAU would go on to score one run in the sixth and seventh innings. Hannah Dorsett smoked a ball to the shortstop in the seventh inning, but it was caught and turned into a double play to end the game. FAU won game two 3-2.
