UAB Beach Falls at No. 19 FIU, 4-1

MIAMI – The UAB beach volleyball team suffered a 4-1 loss at No. 19 FIU on Wednesday morning in Miami.
Three of the five matches went to three sets, with UAB winning one of them, but the Panthers were victorious on courts one, two, four and five for the team victory.
Sophomore Isabel Day and freshman Claudia Stockard tallied the lone win for the Blazers with a three-set victory on Court 3. After dropping the first set 21-19, the duo rallied to win the second 21-16 and then 15-8 in the third. Day and Stockard are now 9-3 together as a pair this season.
UAB's Court 1 pair of Jasmine Haas and Olivia Stant went to three sets, but fell 21-19, 16-21, 10-15, while the Court 4 pair of Kléa Sirois and Olivia Chychrun also lost in three, 18-21, 21-18, 15-8.
The Blazers are now 8-4 overall and 1-1 in CUSA play. The win for FIU improved the Panthers' record to 8-5.
Up next, the Blazers head to Pompano Beach, Fla. for the FAU Invitational where they will play No. 20 Georgia State and Florida Gulf Coast this Friday, followed by Tampa and No. 13 Florida Atlantic on Saturday.
