BIRMINGHAM – The UAB beach volleyball team returns to action this Saturday, March 1, at the Wheeler Beach Bash hosted by South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.
The one-day tournament is a round-robin between UAB, South Carolina and Austin Peay. The schedule is as follows:

UAB vs. Austin Peay – 12 p.m. ET/11 a.m. CT – Live Stats
UAB at South Carolina – 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT – Live Stats
UAB (3-2) looks for a marquee win against South Carolina (2-1), who is the first team receiving votes in this week's AVCA Top 20 national rankings. The Blazers registered a huge win last week over CUSA opponent Tulane, who is the second team receiving votes in the national polls.
The top three courts for the Blazers all went 4-1 last week at Tulane, while Azmabeth Infante and Sadie Sharpe paired together to go 4-0, with three of their wins coming on Court 5.
On Court 1, juniors Jasmine Haas and Olivia Stant dropped their opening contest of the season but then reeled on four straight wins to end the tournament. In the process, Haas moved into UAB's top 10 for career wins (45), with 39 of them coming on Court 1.
Equally as impressive, freshman Claudia Stockard proved she will be a major impact this season as she and sophomore Isabel Day played lights out on Court 2. Day is the school record holder for Court 2 wins (22), having played every match of her career there, while she and Stockard were 4-1 including wins over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Tulane.
Following the Wheeler Beach Bash, UAB hosts its first of two tournaments next weekend, March 7-8 with The March To May. UAB will host Houston Christian, EKU, UT Martin, North Alabama and New Orleans.
