Blazers Fall at #21 Troy, 7-4

TROY - UAB (6-2) saw its six-game winning streak end on Wednesday night to the hands of the 21st ranked Troy Trojans (8-1), 7-4.
Both teams were held scoreless through the first two innings. In the top of the 3rd, the Blazers got a one out walk from Logan Braunschweig. Braunschweig later stole second with two outs. Todd Clay reached on an infield single, and Braunschweig scored from second.
The Trojans got busy in the bottom of the 3rd. With one on and two out, reigning Sun Belt Player of the Week Sean Darnell knocked home Cason Eubanks for an RBI triple. The next four Trojans would reach to open the lead to 4-1 to close the book on UAB starter Braxton Shelton's day.
Troy would add three more runs in the 4th inning. The Trojans scored twice on bases loaded walks and added the third run on a sac fly to make it 7-1.
UAB would get a run back in the 5th inning thanks to an RBI single to right by Nick Hollifield to score Gavin Lewis Jr. from third.
The Blazers threatened in the 9th scoring two more runs but were unable to mount enough of a comeback.
The Green and Gold were 5-for-17 with runners in scoring position and left 10 runners on base.
UAB returns to Young Memorial Field on Friday, February 28 to host North Alabama for a 3-game series. First pitch on Friday is at 2 p.m.
