BIRMINGHAM – The UAB beach volleyball team is set to open its 2025 season this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 21-22, at the Green Wave Invitational in New Orleans.
The Blazers begin the year with two high caliber opponents on Friday with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, who has participated in the last three NCAA Tournaments, and Tulane who was the CUSA runner up last season. UAB is 6-2 all-time vs. TAMUCC, while Tulane is UAB's most common opponent as Friday marks the 27th match between the two schools with the Green Wave leading 19-7. UAB and Tulane split their two matchups last season.
UAB then plays three matches on Saturday against Concordia University Irvine, New Orleans and Southeastern Louisiana. It will be UAB's first match against CUI, while the Blazers are unblemished against New Orleans (7-0) and SLU (1-0).

The Blazers return seven of their top 10 players from last year's team that set the program record for most single season wins (19). Jasmine Haas leads the charge with a career record of 41-24 and is already UAB's winningest player on Court 1 with 35 victories entering her junior season. Fellow juniors Olivia Chychrun (29 wins) and Olivia Stant (27 wins) are expected to play pivotal roles in the top of the lineup as well.
The sophomore class is loaded with returning talent as four of the six players in the sophomore class saw significant playing time as true freshmen. Isabel Day played every match on Court 2 last season and set the single season Court 2 wins record with 18, while Addison Atkins (13 wins), Sadie Sharpe (9 wins) and Ashley Torsone (5 wins) also played major roles in UAB's success a year ago.
Klea Sirois is an instant impact graduate transfer from Stetson who has played in over 75 collegiate matches, while fellow seniors Azmabeth Infante and Ali O'Donnell could see an increased role this season.
Head Coach Delaney Rose added five true freshmen to the roster who will look to push for playing time this year.
Following the opening weekend, UAB heads to Columbia, S.C. for a one-day event at South Carolina where the Blazers face the host Gamecocks and Austin Peay.
