UAB Hosts North Texas for White Out

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's basketball is set to host North Texas on Monday night at Bartow Arena for a white out. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT.
Fans are encouraged to wear white, and the first 1,000 to enter the arena will receive a free white T-Shirt courtesy of ADPH. It will also be student appreciation night and UAB students will have the chance to enter drawings for a pair of Apple AirPods Max Headphones, an Apple Watch Series 10, a Yeti Tundra 45 Cooler, a pair of Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer Smart Sunglasses, and a $250 Visa Gift Card.

Monday night's game will air on ESPN2 as a part of Big Monday with Tom Hart and Dane Bradshaw on the call.
LISTEN
David Crane and Steve Mitchell will call the game for the Blazers on 100.5 ESPN.
SERIES HISTORY
The Blazers lead the all-time series 10-9, though the Mean Green lead 4-3 in their meetings in Birmingham. North Texas won the first matchup this season as Atin Wright hit a three at the buzzer to give the Mean Green the 78-75 win in Denton.
LAST TIME OUT
The Blazers picked up a 96-78 win over Charlotte on Saturday afternoon at Bartow Arena. Alejandro Vasquez scored 26 points while Yaxel Lendeborg recorded his 14th double-double of the season with 22 points, 14 rebounds, five assists and two blocks.
YAX SEASON
Yaxel Lendeborg is posting even more impressive numbers during his second year at UAB. He is averaging 17.6 points, 10.4 rebounds and 4.4 assists so far this season for the Blazers, leading the team in each category. He is the third Blazer (Carlos Williams, Andy Kennedy) to open a season with three straight games with at least 20 points. Lendeborg earned AAC Player of the Week honors after averaging 23.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 7.5 assists in a pair of wins over Tulane and Florida Atlantic. He has also shown his ability to find his teammates regularly, recording five or more assists in 13 games this season, including a streak of seven-straight games with at least five assists.
TONY TONEY TIME
Senior guard Tony Toney has been a spark for the Blazers during his fifth year in Birmingham. The Huntsville native is averaging 8.7 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 49.6% from the field, 41.9% from three and 90.9% from the free throw line. Toney had a huge game in the Blazers' win at South Florida, scoring 18 points while shooting 4-for-6 from three. He then added 15 points and six rebounds in a win over Charlotte.
CRASH THE BOARDS
This season, UAB is again among the top rebounding teams in the nation, ranking 11th in the country in rebounds per contest with 40.8. UAB is especially strong on the offensive glass with 14.6 offensive boards per game, which is ninth in the nation. The Blazers grab 38.5 percent of their misses on the offensive end, which is the ninth best rate in the country. Yaxel Lendeborg led the team in rebounding last season with 10.6 per game and is again averaging double figures on the glass. He has grabbed 15 or more rebounds in 12 games as a Blazer, including a 21-rebound game vs. Florida Atlantic which ranks second in program history.
