WBB Travels to Memphis on Wednesday

BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's basketball travels to Memphis on Wednesday, February 19. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CT and will air live on ESPN+.
The Blazers enter Saturday's contest 15-10 overall and 6-7 in conference play, while the Tigers are 6-18 on the season and 4-9 in league play. The game marks the 58th time the two teams have faced each other and the second time this season. Memphis leads the all-time series 34-23. UAB earned a 73-56 win over UofM at Bartow Arena on January 8.
The Tigers are coming off an 80-61 loss at UTSA on Saturday, while UAB fell 63-53 at Temple last Tuesday.
Jade Weathersby led the Blazers with 18 points and 10 rebounds for her eighth double-double this season against the Owls. Molly Moffitt recorded 10 points and five rebounds. Eleecia Carter saw her first collegiate start and registered nine points. Sara Bershers tallied eight points and hit a scoring milestone by earning 1,000 career points when she made a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter.
UAB had an early lead at 10-4 with 7:01 remaining, but Temple went on a 14-2 run to gain the lead at 18-12. Weathersby was able to make the score 18-14 at the 1:21 mark and no one would score for the remainder of the quarter. The Owls held onto their lead for the remainder of the game to earn the victory.
Maddie Walsh leads the Blazers with 12.4 points per game while Weathersby is following behind with 10.6 points. Bershers is averaging 9.2 points while Tracey Bershers is recording 6.2 points per game. Moffitt is registering 5.9 points and Carter is averaging 4.7 points per game. Weathersby is leading in the rebound category with 9.1 per game.
Offensively, Memphis is led by Tilly Boler (16.9 ppg), DeeDee Hagemann (11.9 ppg), Alasia Smith (11.5 pgg) and Hannah Riddick (11.5 ppg).
