BIRMINGHAM - Blazer pitchers Brock Hill and Chase Ingram have been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award Watch List. The duo returns for the 2025 season after being part of a pitching staff that ranked 42nd in the country in fewest walks per nine innings last season.
Seventy-six players have been named to the initial 2025 Watch List for the 20th Annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award, given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I Baseball, the association announced Wednesday. The institution or conference sports information directors submitted nominees.
A native of Birmingham and former Chelsea High School standout, Hill threw 27.2 innings and struck out 25 across 22 appearances. His four saves last season were tied for ninth in The American.
A junior from Pleasant Hill, California, Ingram appeared in 19 games, striking out 14 while only allowing three walks. He also posted a team-best 4.66 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Hill and Ingram are two of the five pitchers from the American Conference tabbed to the list. They join Jacob Moore of Tulane, Ethan Norby of East Carolina, and Brayden Sanders of Memphis.
