UAB Drops Road Game at Middle Tennessee

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The UAB men's basketball team (6-3) fell to Middle Tennessee on Monday night in Murfreesboro, Tennessee 76-61. UAB was led by Dayjaun Anderson with 12 points on four made three-pointers. Evan Chatman and Ahmad Robinson also added 11 points each.
Torey Alston led the Blue Raiders with 16 points, while five players scored in double figures.

Game Notes
- Dayjaun Anderson led the Blazers with 12 points, the fourth different Blazer to lead scoring this season. Anderson's 12 points are the fewest by a UAB leading scorer this season.
- Anderson made four threes, marking the first time in his career he's made multiple three pointers in a game.
- Anderson recorded double-digit points for the second time in his career, the first against a DI opponent.
- Chatman recorded his first career double-double, tying his career-high with 11 points to go along with 11 rebounds. The 11-point performance marks Chatman's third straight double-digit point game. Chatman's four made field goals were a career-high.
- Lance Carr first action since Rhodes on Nov. 17.
- UAB's 22 made field goals were the fewest in a game this season.
- The Blazers only shot 14 free throws against Middle Tennessee, tied for the least this season (North Carolina State).
- The Blue Raiders blocked eight Blazer shots, the most blocks by an opponent this season.
- UAB committed 11 turnovers to Middle Tennessee's 10, the third time UAB had more turnovers than its opponent.
- UAB shot 34.9% from the field (22-for-63), 23.1% from three (6-for-26), and 78.6% from the free-throw line (11-for-14).
- Chance Westry grabbed the first points of the night with a three ball from the top of the key.
- UAB went on a 6-0 run early in the first half to take a 9-5 lead with 15:11 on the clock.
- Ahmad Robinson led the Blazers early with six points in the first seven minutes of play [13-10].
- An emphatic slam by Daniel Rivera and a three ball by Dayjaun Anderson put UAB up four [18-14].
- MTSU tied it at 19 with 7:48 left in the half.
- Dayjaun Anderson started 3-of-5 from behind the arc, creating a six-point lead. An 8-0 run over the next three minutes put UAB up eight points [27-19].
- The Blue Raiders closed the first half on a 13-6 run cutting the lead to just one [33-32].
- MTSU came out on a 13-6 run, led by five points from Kamari Lands, to give MTSU the lead [45-39]. This included a 7-0 run over a 45-second span.
- The largest lead of the game (13) thus far came with 12:33 left to play [54-41].
- After a London lay-in and an Anderson three-pointer, UAB went on a 7-0 run to get within six points [58-52].
- Jahvin Carter and Sean Smith hit two three-pointers to put MTSU up 19 points, which was the biggest lead of the night by either team [76-57].
- UAB was outscored 44-28 in the second half.
- UAB hits the road to end a four-game road streak against Drake on Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT.
- Drake is coming off an 84-74 win against Georgia tech in the Emerald Classic.
