CANCUN, Mexico – UAB women's basketball (3-4) fell to No. 8 TCU (8-0) 82-61 on Friday night at the Cancun Challenge in Cancun, Mexico to close out the tournament.

Eleecia Carter led the Blazers for the second night in a row with 17 points and added five assists. Molly Moffitt recorded 16 points and six rebounds.

The Horned Frogs had three players score in double figures with Marta Suárez leading the way with 19 points. TCU shot 48 percent from the field and 26 percent from the long range.

Game Notes

Carter (17 points) and Moffit (16 points) both scored in double figures to lead the UAB offense.
TCU averages 86 points per game and UAB was able to hold the Horned Frogs to 82 points.
The Blazers shot 35 percent from the field and 35 percent from the long range.
Carter was 6-for-11 from the field and 5-for-7 behind the arc.
Moffit was 6-for-13 in the paint and 2-for-5 from the 3-point line.
UAB scored 13 points off turnovers and 14 points off second chances, while TCU scored 14 points off turnovers and 16 points on second chances.

How It Happened

TCU had a 13-point lead with 4:34 remaining in the first quarter [20-7].
The Blazers then used a 7-0 to get within five of the Horned Frogs [20-15].
After the first quarter the Blazers trailed by 10 [26-16].
The Horned Frogs were able to extend the lead with a 11-2 run to go into halftime [43-25].
The Blazers came out of halftime going 7-for-18 from the field and scored 18 points while TCU scored 20 for the quarter.
The Horned Frogs headed into the final frame leading by 20 [63-43].
With 7:48 remaining in the game the Blazers started an 11-2 run to trail by 15 [69-54].
TCU went on an 11-0 run to have its biggest lead of the game at 26 with 2:18 left [80-54].

Up next, UAB is back at home on Dec. 3 to host Southern Illinois. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. and will air live on ESPN+.
