Blazers Open Season at Destination Orlando

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB Bowling kicks off the 2025-26 season at Destination Orlando, hosted by Sacred Heart. The competition will span three days, from Friday, October 24, to Sunday, October 26, with all competition taking place at AMF Sky Lanes.

COMPETITION FORMAT
Friday's competition will consist of five traditional games by total pinfall across five bowlers. Saturday will feature five baker total pinfall matches, in which total points across five baker matches will determine a head-to-head winner. Finally, Sunday will see best-of-seven matchplay in bracket play. Teams are guaranteed three matches on Sunday. Bracket seeds will be determined through the results from Friday and Saturday.
THE FIELD
A stacked lineup highlights Destination Orlando as sixteen ranked teams are in the field of 24 squads in Orlando. The field consists of No. 1 Jacksonville State, No. 2 Nebraska, No. 3Vanderbilt, No. 4 Youngstown State, No. 5 Wichita State, No. 6 Arkansas State, No. 7 North Carolina A&T, No. 9 Louisiana Tech, No. 10 Maryville, No. 11 Sacred Heart, No. 12 Duquesne, No. 14 Mount St. Mary's, No. 16 Maryland Eastern Shore, No. 19 Tulane, No. 21 Valparaiso, RV Alabama State, RV Emmanuel, Alabama A&M, Bryant. Florida A&M, Prairie View A&M, Saint Anselm, and Texas Southern.
Destination Orlando serves as the starting point for the majority of the participating teams. However, a handful began their season last week at Youngstown State's Chelsea Gilliam Penguin Classic. Preseason No. 2 Nebraska won the tournament, going 12-1 on the weekend.
BLAZER OUTLOOK
For the first competition of the season, Head Coach Michelle Crews will travel with graduate student Madison Colston, senior Zoe Moore, sophomore Regina Moreno, senior Madelynn Oliva, senior Savannah Schneider, graduate student Jordan Shipp, freshman Anella Tillman, and sophomore Jenna Webber.
Colston and Oliva each received preseason all-MEAC honors and are a part of a graduating class of five Blazers this season.
