Cross Country Competing in Crimson Classic on Friday

BIRMINGHAM - UAB Cross Country is set for its final regular season meet on Friday in Tuscaloosa to compete in the Crimson Classic hosted by the University of Alabama. Friday's women's 6k race is slated to begin at 9:20 a.m. Live results can be found here.
THE LAST TIME OUT
The Green and Gold grinded out a 10th place finish out of 29 teams at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, AR on October 4. Among the teams in the top 10 were Texas, Arkansas, Rice, and Missouri State. Sangie Lincoln-Velez was the Blazers' top finisher coming in 23rd place with a time of 17:22. Lidia Longo was the other Blazer finishing in the top 50 coming in 49th place. Along with Lincoln-Velez (91 seconds) and Longo (18 seconds), Kaitlyn Wende (41 seconds), Kenlie Nelson (28 seconds), Lia Castillo (26 seconds) all set their personal best 5k times on Saturday.
THIS TIME LAST YEAR
UAB placed 10th as a team last season at the Crimson Classic. Katie Keur led the way for the Blazers placing 37th with a time of 20:44. Lidia Longo and Kyra Hayes rounded out the top 100 for the Green and Gold.
The Blazers will race in the Crimson Classic for the third consecutive season. Information about the meet can be found here and the 6k course map can be found here.
