Blazers Battle in Loaded Crimson Classic, Nine Personal Bests Set

TUSCALOOSA - In a packed field on Friday, UAB Cross Country finished 11th place as a team at the Crimson Classic 6K in Tuscaloosa. All nine of the Blazers' finishers each set their personal best 6K times on Friday morning.
The leader of the Green and Gold was Lidia Longo who placed 44th with a time of 21:13. Last meet's leader, Sangie Lincoln-Velez held the second spot for the Blazers placing 54th coming in at 21:27. Lia Castillo came in 60th place with a time of 21:35. Kaitlyn Wende placed 92nd coming in at 22:06 and Kyra Hayes rounded out UAB's top five with a time of 22:30.
Kenlie Nelson, Emma Kate Alexander, Ava Brooks, and Valeria Escalera completed the PR sweep on Friday with each besting their previous bests by at least 12 seconds.
South Carolina, Tulane, Alabama, Vanderbilt, and Georgia Tech were the team order of finish for the meet.
UAB returns to action Saturday, November 1 as it travels to Charlotte for the American Conference Cross Country Championships. All information regarding the meet will be announced at a later date.
