Stewart Earns American Conference Honorable Mention

BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's soccer had a player notch a weekly honor, as officials from the league office announced on Monday that Lailah Stewart earned honorable mention.
Stewart played a major role in the 5-2 victory over East Carolina on Sunday for the Blazers first conference win of the season. The junior forward extended UAB's lead 3-1 in the 76th minute off assists from Sydney Bolinger and Abbey Burns.
ECU added another goal in the 80th minute, but Stewart answered just 57 seconds later with her second goal of the afternoon, assisted by Mills. Stewart completed her hat trick in the 88th minute off passes from Burns and Berryman to secure the 5-2 win.
UAB's first two goals came from Ava Mills (37th minute) and Mia Leath (47th minute). UAB outshot East Carolina 17-10 and held a 58-42 edge in possession.
Up next, the Blazers hit the road to Florida Atlantic on Sunday, October 19. Kickoff is set for noon CT.
