Men’s Basketball Travels to No. 24 Memphis on Sunday

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's basketball (12-7, 5-1 AAC) will travel to Memphis (15-4, 5-1 AAC) to face the Tigers on Sunday in a matchup of two teams tied atop the conference standings. Tipoff is set for 12 p.m. CT.

SERIES HISTORY
Memphis leads the all-time series 40-12, including a 24-2 mark at home. The programs split their two meetings during the 2023-24 season with the Blazers winning 97-88 in Birmingham and the Tigers winning 106-87 in Memphis.
LAST TIME OUT
The Blazers earned their fifth-straight win with an 81-78 victory over UTSA on Tuesday. Yaxel Lendeborg led the team with 24 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists for his 11th double-double of the season.
FIVE STRAIGHT WINS
Andy Kennedy has led the Blazers to five-straight conference wins in all five seasons at the helm, marking the first time UAB has had a five-game conference winning streak in five-straight seasons. Kennedy joins Gene Bartow as the only two coaches in UAB history to lead the Blazers to at least five seasons with a five-game winning streak during conference play. Bartow reached the mark in seven of his 18 seasons at the Blazers' head coach.
TONY TONEY TIME
Senior guard Tony Toney has been a spark for the Blazers during his fifth year in Birmingham. The Huntsville native is averaging 8.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 49.2% from the field, 43.8% from three and 95.2% from the free throw line. Toney had a huge game in the Blazers' win at South Florida, scoring 18 points while shooting 4-for-6 from three.
CRASH THE BOARDS
This season, UAB is again among the top rebounding teams in the nation, ranking 10th in the country in rebounds per contest with 41.3. UAB is especially strong on the offensive glass with 14.8 offensive boards per game, which is ninth in the nation. The Blazers grab 39.3 percent of their misses on the offensive end. Yaxel Lendeborg led the team in rebounding last season with 10.6 per game. He has grabbed 15 or more rebounds in 12 games as a Blazer, including a 21-rebound game vs. Florida Atlantic which ranks second in program history.
