Women’s Basketball Faces South Florida on Tuesday

TAMPA, Fla. – UAB women's basketball travels to Tampa on Tuesday, January 14 to face South Florida. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT and will air live on ESPN+.
The Blazers enter Saturday's contest 11-6 overall and 2-3 in conference play, while the Bulls are 11-7 on the season and 4-1 in league play. The game marks the 35th time the two teams have faced each other, and UAB leads the all-time series 23-11.
USF is coming off a 72-65 loss at North Texas on Saturday, while UAB defeated Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton 73-61 on Saturday.
Journey Armstead led UAB with 14 points and collected seven rebounds and four assists. Maddie Walsh registered 13 points, while Jade Weathersby earned her fifth double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Tracey Bershers tallied 12 points and added six assists and five rebounds to the stat sheet. Eleecia Carter came away with 11 points on the afternoon.
The Blazers shot 43 percent while the Owls shot 35 percent for the contest. The Green and Gold scored 42 bench points, 28 points in the paint and 14 points off turnovers.
Walsh leads UAB with 13.5 points per game while Armstead is following behind with 10.9 points. Sara Bershers is averaging 9.5 points while Weathersby is recording 8.3 points per game. Rayne Tucker is averaging 8.2 points and T. Bershers is registering 6.2 points per game. Weathersby is leading in the rebound category with 8.5 per game.
Offensively, South Florida is led by Sammie Puisis (15.8 ppg), Vittoria Blasigh (9.8 ppg) and L'or Mputu (9.0 ppg).
