UAB Women’s Soccer Begins Conference Play at UTSA

BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's soccer (3-2-1) will open conference play at UTSA on Thursday night at 7 p.m. CT.

SERIES HISTORY
The match marks the ninth time the two teams have faced each other. The Blazers lead the series 3-2-2 with the last match taking place at PNC Field in 2023 and resulting in a 1-1 tie.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE BLAZERS
The Blazers earned a 1-0 victory at Southern Miss on Sunday. Sydney Bolinger scored the lone goal, which was assisted by goalkeeper Anika Toth.
UAB picked up a 1-0 win last Thursday against Ole Miss at PNC field. The victory marked Lisa Mann's first win over an SEC opponent. Abbey Burns put the Blazers up 1-0 off a penalty kick.
SCOUTING THE ROADRUNNERS
UTSA is coming off a 3-0 win at Central Arkansas. The Roadrunners are 5-2-0 on the season are led by Addy Johnson who has scored two goals this season. Seven other Roadrunners have scored a goal apiece this year. UTSA's keeper has earned three shutouts and has had 21 saves.
BREAKOUT CANDIDATES
Burns has been recognized AAC awards by earning Honorable Mention (Sept. 26) for her efforts against Samford. Burns has registered four goals so far this season. Bolinger has netted two goals and Abby Graeser has one goal this year. Maia Sirota has tallied two assists so far, with her first to Graeser in the season opener win against ETSU and her second assist to Bolinger at Samford.
BRILLIANCE IN GOAL
So far this season, Toth has recorded three shutouts. Her first coming in UAB's home opener against ETSU (1-0) and two last week against Ole Miss (1-0) and at Southern Miss (1-0). With the 1-0 win at Southern Miss, Toth recorded her 10th career shutout. Also at Southern Miss, Toth took a free kick and assisted Bolinger in scoring the goal to put the Blazers up. It was the first assist of her career, and she earned AAC Honorable Mention for her efforts.
