UAB Places 10th at Argent Financial Classic

BIRMINGHAM – Led by a top five finish from sophomore Morgan Slaton, the UAB men's golf team placed 10th at the Argent Financial Classic hosted by Louisiana Tech at the Squire Creek Country Club.
Slaton was at or below par in all three rounds (71-70-72 = 213) en route to a career low -3 and a career-best fifth place finish.
Freshman Bernhard Koster, who was participating as an individual, was UAB's second finisher at +3 (75-70-74 = 219) and shot a career-best -2 in the second round. Koster finished in a tie for 20th.
Fellow freshman Jonathan Ericsson tied for 34th overall at +5 (75-72-74 = 221), while Will Stelt finished in a tie for 57th (71-77-77 = 225, +9).
Paul Bruce (+11) and John Bruce (+12) rounded out UAB's efforts in 72nd and 77th place.
Troy won the event by three strokes over Houston, while Lukas Boandl of Rice won the individual title at -10.
The Blazers return to action in two weeks as they host the Graeme McDowell Invitational at Limestone Springs on Sept. 22-23.
