BIRMINGHAM – As the calendar turns to October, UAB concludes a two-game home stand against Tulane at Protective Stadium on Oct. 5 for Family Weekend.
In conjunction with UAB Student Affairs, families of UAB students are invited back to campus which culminates with the Blazers and Green Wave facing off for the 13th time in program history.
Along with tickets to the game, registering for family weekend also includes a UAB Family Weekend T-Shirt, a stadium clear bag which meets NCAA regulations for entry, free catered tailgate in Blazer Village and a Birmingham excursion. Registration for Family Weekend opens in July.
Tulane has won back-to-back AAC regular season titles and won the 2022 Cotton Bowl two seasons ago. The Green Wave is 23-5 during their current two-year run and are under the direction of new head coach Jon Sumrall (former Troy HC) following the departure of Willie Fritz to Houston.
The UAB/Tulane series has been extremely competitive with each team winning six games. Seven of the 12 games have been decided by one possession, and despite the 12-point Tulane victory last year in New Orleans, the game was in the balance until the final possession as the Green Wave scored late to ice it.
UAB is 3-2 against Tulane at home, and this will be the first meeting between the two at Protective Stadium.
