UAB Travels to #23 Mississippi State

STARKVILLE, MS - The UAB baseball team will travel over to face the #23 Mississippi State Bulldogs on Tuesday night. The Blazers are coming off of their first ever American Athletic Conference series win over Tulane.
Brayton Brown was selected as the American Athletic Conference's Player of the Week in the series win over Tulane. He went 8-15, good enough for a .533 batting average during the four-game stretch. Brown hit a three-run home run in game two against Tulane. He also was able to drive in 11 total RBIs during the four games. Brown scored four total times, hit three doubles, hit two home runs, and stole a base. The Blazers have hit .245 over the last five games, comparable to our .247 batting average over the whole season.
Mississippi State
The Bulldogs come into the game with a 21-12 record and a 6-6 conference record. More tough competition awaits, as the SEC has eight teams ranked in the top 25 with two teams dropping out this week. Mississippi State was able to take two of three games from the Georgia bulldogs last weekend, winning games two and three. Dakota Jordan (.372), Connor Hujsak (.333), and David Mershon (.333) lead the Bulldogs in batting average, all hitting above .300. Jordan also leads the team in home runs (14) and slugging % (.793). On the mound, Mississippi State will start LHP - Luke Dotson. Dotson has a 4.32 ERA with seven appearances, 8.1 innings pitched, and 14 strikeouts.

Mississippi State leads the series 38-10 with UAB's last win coming in 2011. Mississippi State currently rides a five game winning streak over the Blazers. The last matchup was in 2023 when the bulldogs handled the Blazers by a score of 7-3.
