UAB Beach Travels to TCU for Horned Frog Challenge

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB beach volleyball team heads to Fort Worth, Texas this Friday and Saturday, March 8-9 for the Horned Frog Challenge hosted by TCU.

While in Texas, UAB will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (who is receiving votes) and UC Davis on Friday, followed by CUSA opponent No. 5 TCU and Stephen F. Austin on Saturday.

Senior Brooke Pertuit and freshman Madeline Sigmon are the reigning Conference USA Pair of the Week. The duo had a perfect 4-0 record at the UAB Beach Classic on Court 3 and only dropped one set the entire weekend.

Their signature win came in a straight set 21-15, 21-19 victory over No. 15 Florida Atlantic on Saturday afternoon. The pair also beat UTEP (16-21, 21-15, 15-10), UT Martin (21-16, 21-10) and EKU (21-16, 21-14) to help UAB finish 3-1 overall as a team. The duo now has an overall record of 6-2 together with all of their matches coming on Court 3.

Seniors Arden Copping and Jessica Ennis are closing in on career milestones which could be accomplished this weekend. With 55 wins, Copping is four victories away from becoming UAB's career leader in all-time wins, which is currently held by Emma Andraka (58). Copping is off to a 6-1 start this season on Court 1 with teammate Jasmine Haas.

Ennis is one win away from moving into the Top 10 in career wins and enters the TCU weekend with 44 career victories. Ennis is 6-2 on Court 2 this season.

Following the Horned Frog Challenge, UAB heads to Louisiana for the Sugar Beach Bash in which the Blazers will face No. 20 Tampa, South Carolina, Southern Miss and New Orleans.
