WBB Closes the Regular Season Hosting Wichita State

BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's basketball wraps up the regular season hosting Wichita State on Tuesday. Tip is set for 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Blazers enter the contest 18-11 overall and 9-8 in league play, while Wichita State is 8-21 on the season and 4-13 in AAC play.
Denim DeShields led four Blazers in double figures with 17 points and led UAB with seven assists against Memphis last Saturday. Jade Weathersby recorded 16 points, while Maddie Walsh tallied 15 points and went 6-of-10 from the floor and 3-of-7 from the long range. Mia Moore also scored in double figures against the Tigers with 11 points and led the Blazers with nine rebounds.
DeShields continues to rank a top of the AAC standings, ranking first in assists with 5.3 per game, while Moore ranks fifth in rebounds with 8.9 per game.
DeShields and Moore lead UAB offensively with 15.6 and 13.2 points per game on the year.
Offensively, Wichita State is led by Daniela Abies, Salese Blow and Tre'Zure Jobe with 12.6, 12.1 and 10.3 points per game on the season, respectively. Abies ranks third in the AAC with 9.1 rebounds per game.
Tuesday's game marks the third time the two teams have faced each other, with the first meeting dating back to Feb. 19, 1982. UAB earned an 83-81 OT win earlier this season at Wichita State for the second every matchup.
