UAB Track & Field Closes Out Day One of Spring Invite

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Track and Field concluded the first day of the UAB Spring Invite with multiple personal bests and top finishes for the Blazers. The Green and Gold finished with 12 top-ten finishes and four personal records, including a notable sweep of the top six in the long jump.
The day began with a second-place finish from Mya McDanal in the javelin, throwing 40.53m. Following McDanal, the women's 1500 saw Lia Castillo finish third overall with a sub-five-minute performance. Following Castillo, Ava Brooks and Gracie Sears finished top ten in the 3000-meter steeplechase, with Brooks placing Top 100 in NCAA DI rankings with the performance.
Following Brooks and Sears, the 3000m saw Katie Keur round out the top three, followed by Lidia Longo and Anna Behmer. Longo finished the day with a PR in the event with a 10:35.01.
In field events, jumps finished with an impressive top-six sweep in the long jump. Corinne Ball, Loren Johnson, Mikayla Williams, Averie Foster, Laney Bishop, and Kacee Oliver. Ball, Johnson, and Williams all PR'd. Aniyah Marshall also finished in the top ten with a personal best of her own.
