Women’s Basketball Travels to Face Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The UAB women's basketball team travels to face Memphis inside the Elma Roane Fieldhouse on Saturday. Tip is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Blazers enter Saturday's game 18-10 overall and 9-7 in league play, while Memphis is 12-15 on the season and 8-8 in AAC play. The Tigers are coming off a 60-53 win over UTSA on Wednesday, while UAB dropped to North Texas 77-95 last Saturday.
Denim DeShields led the Blazers with 28 points on 10-of-12 shooting and went 7-of-7 from the free throw line. Mia Moore recorded 17 points and was 7-of-15 from the field. Maddie Walsh was also in double figures with 14 points and made four of her nine shots from the 3-point range and went 5-of-12 in field goal range.
DeShields ranks first in the conference in assists with 5.3 per game, while Moore is fifth in rebounds with 8.9 per game. Moore and DeShields lead UAB offensively with 15.7 and 13.0 points per game.
Offensively, Maddison Griggs and Alasia Smith lead the Tigers with 16.4 and 10.0 points per game. Smith ranks second in rebounds with 9.4 and third in steals with 2.1. Griggs is first in 3-point field goals made with 2.9 and fifth in steals with 1.9.
The game marks the 56th meeting between the two teams, with Memphis leading the all-time series 32-23. The Blazers earned a 65-63 win over the Tigers earlier this season.
