BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's basketball will host Wichita State on Wednesday night in the programs' first meeting since 2011. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.

SERIES HISTORY
Wichita State leads the all-time series over the Blazers, 4-0. The programs last met in 2011 in Wichita. The Shockers won the only meeting at Bartow Arena in 1982.
LAST TIME OUT
The Blazers picked up a key road win against Tulane on Sunday afternoon, downing the Green Wave, 78-67. Yaxel Lendeborg matched his career high with 26 points while grabbing 12 rebounds, dishing out three assists and blocking three shots. Three other Blazers finished in double figures with Efrem "Butta" Johnson adding 13 points while Javian Davis and Christian Coleman each had 10.
YAX SEASON
Yaxel Lendeborg has become a dominant force in his debut season at UAB. The junior forward had a breakout game on the offensive end against Furman where he had 19 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks, three assists and two steals. He earned AAC Player of the Week honors after putting up 24 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in a win over UNC Asheville and followed up that performance with 23 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocks at UTSA. Lendeborg put up yet another impressive double-double with 23 points, 16 boards and four assists against No. 19 Memphis. He posted an eye-popping 17 points and 21 rebounds in a win over No. 20 Florida Atlantic before earned AAC Player of the Week honors for the second time. His 21 boards are the second-most by a Blazer in program history. The 6'9" forward is averaging 13.7 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game and he is one of 15 players in college basektball averaging a double-double this season.
VETERAN PRESENCE
Javian Davis enters his final year of eligibility in 2023-24 and is primed to play a big role on this year's UAB team. Davis averaged 6.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per game last season while splitting time with Trey Jemison. Davis opened the 2023-24 season with a career performance against Bradley, scoring 20 points, grabbing 15 rebounds and securing four steals while shooting 8-for-9 from the field. Davis has set a career high in points twice this season against Middle Tennessee with 21 and Montevallo with 22.

The Blazers are one of the best teams in the country at getting to the charity stripe. UAB is 12th in the nation in free throws made per game at 17.8 while ranking 20th nationally in free throw attempts per game with 23.6. UAB shoots free throws at a 75.4 percent clip which ranks 48th in the country and second in the American Conference.
CRASH THE BOARDS
The Blazers finished the 2022-23 season at No. 2 in the NCAA in rebounds per game at 40.9 and No. 5 in offensive rebounds per game at 13.5 and are once again a top-100 rebounding team. UAB is 53rd nationally, grabbing 38.4 rebounds per game. The Blazers excel on the offensive glass, grabbing 13.2 offensive boards per game, which ranks 21st in the nation. Yaxel Lendeborg leads the Blazers in rebounding, grabbing 10.1 per game. He has grabbed 15 or more rebounds in seven games this season, including a 21-rebound game vs. Florida Atlantic which ranks second in program history.
