2/25/2024 6:56:00 PM | Men's Basketball
NEW ORLEANS – UAB men's basketball (18-9, 10-4 AAC) bounced back with a 78-67 win on the road at Tulane (13-13, 4-10 AAC). Yaxel Lendeborg matched his career high of 26 points while grabbing 12 rebounds for his 13th double-double of the year and adding three assists and three blocks.
The Blazers built a 10-point lead in the first half at the 5:21 mark after Alejandro Vasquez finished through contact to make it a 32-22 game. However, the Green Wave answered with a quick 10-0 run to tie it right back up.
A bad pass by the Blazers turned into a Tulane go-ahead layup with 15 seconds left in the first half. The Green Wave held a 38-37 advantage at the break.
Lendeborg put the Blazers ahead early in the second half and UAB did not look back. The Blazers built their lead to 11 points at the 8:01 mark after Javian Davis found Yaxel Lendeborg for a layup, but Tulane answered right back with seven straight points to cut it to just a four-point game.
The Green Wave made it a three-point game with only 2:54 after Jaylen Forbes hit a three, but six straight points by the Blazers put the game out of reach in the final two minutes. UAB was perfect from the free throw line down the stretch to keep Tulane at an arm's length and hold on for the 78-67 win.
