Blazer Baseball Loses Close Game to Even Series Against SLU

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB baseball team lost its 3rd game of the season today to Southeastern Louisiana. The Blazers had seven hits and three runs, but it was not enough to secure the win.
In the 1st inning, Darryl Buggs scored after a RBI ground out from Reed Latimer. Buggs got on base because of a triple down the left field line. Latimer has totaled two RBIs and three hits in his four games played.
SLU scored its first run of the game on a fielding error by UAB which scored Christian Garcia. Another error by the Blazers scored Ryan Brome late in the 5th inning. The Blazers were able to hit starting pitcher Dakota Lee six times in his five innings. UAB had three runs across the plate during the five innings Lee pitched. Two more runs for UAB came in the 5th inning. Brayton Brown singled to 3rd base and then an error by SLU scored Logan Braunschweig. The second run came on a single by catcher Jake Smallwood who scored Brayton Brown.
Isaac Warrick finished the game with 3.2 IP. During those three innings Warrick accrued a statline of 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, and 3 K.
SLU scored four runs on three hits in the 7th inning. Parker Coley doubled down the left field line to score Haze and Hall. The next two runs of the inning came on a SAC fly and a single.
The Blazers had a chance to close the lead in the bottom of the 9th inning, but after a double from Peyton Puckett UAB could not score.
Next Game:
The Blazers are back in action tomorrow at 1 p.m. vs Southeastern Louisiana.
