UAB Women’s Basketball Hosts North Texas on Saturday

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB women's basketball team is back at Bartow Arena as the Blazers host North Texas for Senior Day on Saturday. Tip is set for 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
UAB enters the contest at 18-9 overall and 9-6 in the American, while North Texas is 19-7 overall and 9-5 in league play.
Denim DeShields and Jade Weathersby led the Blazers with 17 points against Tulsa, with DeShields being 7-of-13 from the field and Weathersby on 8-of-11 in field goal range. Mia Moore also reached double figures with 13 points and led UAB with eight rebounds.
Moore ranks second in the conference with 9.1 rebounds, while DeShields ranks first in the AAC with 5.3 assists per game. Moore and Denim DeShields lead the Blazers offensively with 15.7 and 12.5 points per game, respectively.
Offensively, UNT is led by DesiRay Kernal and Tommisha Lampkin with 15.5 and 15.1 points per game on the season. In addition, Lampkin ranks first in the conference in field goal percentage, while Kernal ranks fourth.
Saturday's game marks the 20th time the two teams have faced each other. North Texas leads the all-time series 11-8 and earned a win against UAB earlier this season.
