Baseball Moves to 3-2 With Win Against Southeastern Louisiana

BIRMINGHAM - The UAB baseball team secured their third win of the season against Southeastern Louisiana. This was the first of a three game series that ends on Sunday.
Both starting pitchers made easy work of the batters through the first three innings. In fact, neither team gave up a run until the 5th inning, when Darryl Buggs drove in two Blazers. Another run was scored after a single to right field by Logan Braunschweig. Alex Cheeseman, Austin Young, and Darryl Buggs were the scorers in the 5th.
Blayze Berry pitched six scoreless innings before a pitching change by head coach Casey Dunn. Berry finished with a season high of seven strikeouts. Braxton Brooks came in during the 7th inning and pitched 1.1 with a strikeout. During the 8th Southeastern Louisiana's Bailey Sorenson hit a two run home run to make the score 3-2.
Southeastern Louisiana left 13 players on base and had three errors. The Blazers accrued six hits, but were not able to get anything else going offensively.
Ben Abernathy came in for the last 1.2 innings and closed the game out. Abernathy earned the save on a game sealing strikeout.
Next Game:
The Blazers are back in action tomorrow at 2 p.m. vs Southeastern Louisiana.
