UAB Falls at UTSA, 76-58

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The UAB women's basketball team fell on the road at UTSA Sunday afternoon by the score of 76-58.
The Blazers move to 17-7 overall and 8-4 in the AAC, while the Roadrunners improve to 12-10 on the season and 6-5 in league play.
Kylee Schneringer led UAB with 12 points on 4-of-8 from the field goal range, while Mia Moore (11) also reached double figures. Ashton Elley earned nine points and was 3-of-6 from the field goal and 3-point range.
Maddie Walsh, Denim DeShields and Jade Weathersby each tallied seven points for the Blazers.
The Blazers came out hot to start the game and had a lead of 7-0. UAB didn't allow UTSA to score its first point until there was 6:53 on the clock. The Blazers shot 4-of-7 from the 3-point range, with Moore leading the team in the first with 6 points. UAB led 18-13 heading into the second quarter.
UTSA found some momentum in the second quarter, with the Roadrunners putting up 19 points in the second. Going into the locker room, UTSA held an eight-point lead (32-24).
The Roadrunners came out of the half and put up 19 points and shot 45 percent. Tracey Bershers led the Blazers in the third quarter and was 2-of-3 from the field goal range.
UTSA continued its momentum in the fourth and outscored UAB 25-20 in the frame to pull away for the victory.
UAB is back at home in Bartow Arena to host Temple on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 6 p.m.
