Men's Basketball Travels to North Texas to Open AAC Play

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's basketball is set to face North Texas on Tuesday, December 31 to open American Conference play. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. CT.

SERIES HISTORY
UAB leads the all-time series over North Texas, 10-8. The Blazers won both meetings last season, starting with an 82-79 win in overtime in Denton and a 71-62 victory over the Mean Green in Birmingham. The teams have met six times over the last two seasons.
LAST TIME OUT
UAB picked up a 91-74 win over Alcorn State on Sunday, December 22. Bradley Ezewiro scored 19 points to lead the team, his most as a Blazer. Yaxel Lendeborg added 14 points, 12 rebounds and six assists.
GET TO THE LINE
The Blazers were one of the best teams in the country at getting to the charity stripe in 2023-24, finishing eighth in the country in free throws made per game at 17.8. This year, the Blazers are again getting to the free throw line at a high rate. UAB is tied for 68th in the nation with 16.0 free throws made per game.
FAST PACED, HIGH POWERED OFFENSE
Tempo has often been a theme of Andy Kennedy's teams, and the 2024-25 roster has continued that. The Blazers rank 71st in the country in tempo while scoring 86.0 points per game, which is 20th nationally. UAB slowed its tempo a bit last season, ranking only 158th in the nation in the category after ranking 31st in the year prior.
CRASH THE BOARDS
This season, UAB is again among the top rebounding teams in the nation, ranking 19th in the country in rebounds per contest with 41.7. UAB is especially strong on the offensive glass with 15.0 offensive boards per game, which is 12th in the nation. Yaxel Lendeborg led the team in rebounding last season with 10.6 per game. He has grabbed 15 or more rebounds in 12 games as a Blazer, including a 21-rebound game vs. Florida Atlantic which ranks second in program history.
