Colin Daniel Named AAC Preseason Pitcher of the Year

BIRMINGHAM - Colin Daniel was named AAC Preseason Pitcher of the Year on Wednesday, December 18, by the league's coaches. Additionally, Daniel was tabbed as a unanimous selection to the Preseason All-Conference Team.
Daniel, a junior from Corner, Alabama, started 14 games for the Blazers in 2024. The right-hander picked up 76 strikeouts and walked 18 batters in 92.0 innings of work. Last season, he compiled a 7-4 record and tossed a complete game at North Alabama on March 3. He also picked up a career-high 11 strikeouts and no walks in 8.2 innings at Rice on April 14. Daniel recorded quality starts in 10 of his 14 outings in 2024.
The Blazers' ace also finished in the top 5 of the AAC in multiple pitching categories last season. He finished 2nd in walks allowed (18), 3rd in ERA (3.14), 4th in K/BB ratio (4.22), 4th in WHIP (1.23), and tied for 5th in wins (7).
Daniel is the first Blazer to be named to the Preseason All-Conference team since Christian Hall in 2023 and the first Blazer pitcher with Preseason All-Conference honors since Alex Luna in 2015.
The Blazers were also picked to finish 8th in the AAC Preseason Coaches Poll.
