UAB Hosts New Orleans on Wednesday

BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's basketball hosts New Orleans on Wednesday morning. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. CT and will air live on ESPN+.
The Blazers enter Wednesday's contest 6-3, while New Orleans is 0-7 on the season. The game marks the fourth time the two teams have faced each other, and the Privateers lead the all-time series 2-1. The last matchup between the teams was November 30, 1985.
New Orleans is coming off an 84-58 loss at Baylor last Friday, while UAB defeated Alcorn State 76-51 on Sunday.
Jade Weathersby led the Blazers with 16 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double against ASU. The double-double marked Weathersby's sixth of the season. Sara Bershers registered 13 points, while Journey Armstead added 10 points, five assists and four rebounds.
The Green and Gold built the biggest lead in the fourth quarter at 28 points. The Blazers scored 40 points in the second half and shot 50 percent.
UAB scored 26 points in the paint and 24 points off turnovers. For the game, UAB shot 48 percent while holding Alcorn State to 36 percent. The Green and Gold out-rebounded ASU 42-23.
Walsh leads UAB with 12.4 points per game while Jade Weathersby is following behind with 11.1. Sara Bershers is averaging 10.3 points per game and Rayne Tucker is recording 8.9. Journey Armstead is registering 8.6 points per game and Tracey Bershers is averaging 8.3 points. Weathersby is leading in the rebound category with 9.6 rebounds per game.
Offensively, New Orleans is led by Jayla Kimbrough who averages 12.1 points per game, Nora Francois (10.7 ppg) and Alexis Calderon (8.3 ppg).
