Women’s Basketball Hosts Alcorn State on Sunday

BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's basketball hosts Alcorn State on Sunday afternoon. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. CT and will air live on ESPN+.
The Blazers enter Sunday's contest 5-3, while Alcorn State is 2-7 on the season. The game marks the seventh time the two teams have faced each other, and UAB leads the all-time series 6-0.
Alcorn State is coming off a 79-45 loss at Louisiana Tech last Saturday, while UAB fell 69-62 at Auburn last Sunday.
Sara Bershers led the Blazers with 15 points and added nine rebounds. Maddie Walsh recorded 13 points against the Tigers. UAB shot 41 percent, while Auburn shot 44 percent on the afternoon. The Blazers out rebounded the Tigers 39-31.
Walsh leads UAB with 13.0 points per game while Jade Weathersby is following behind with 10.5. Sara Bershers is averaging 10.0 points per game and Rayne Tucker is recording 9.0. Tracey Bershers is averaging 8.6 points and Journey Armstead is registering 8.4 points per game. Weathersby is leading in the rebound category with 9.3 rebounds per game.
Offensively, Alcorn State is led by Destiny Brown who averages 10.9 points per game, Zy'Nyia White (9.6 ppg) and Sharmanye Finely (8.7 ppg).
