BIRMINGHAM – UAB women's basketball welcomes Mississippi Valley State to Bartow Arena on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. CT.
The Blazers enter Saturday's game 2-0, while Mississippi Valley State is 0-3 on the season. The game marks the 13th time the two teams have faced each other and UAB leads the all-time series 12-0 and is 11-0 when playing in Bartow Arena.
MVSU is coming off a 114-54 loss at Arkansas State on Wednesday, while the Blazers earned a 74-67 victory at Alabama A&M on Tuesday.
Maddie Walsh led UAB with 22 points and added three rebounds and three assists. Sara Bershers recorded 15 points and seven rebounds. Jade Weathersby tallied 13 points and 11 rebounds for her second consecutive double-double of the season. Journey Armstead came away with 10 points and five rebounds.
The Blazers out rebounded Alabama A&M 43-36 and only allowed the Bulldogs to score 27 points in the second half.
Weathersby leads UAB with 16.5 points per game while Walsh is following behind with 16.0 points per game. Bershers is averaging 14.0 points per game. Weathersby is also leading in the rebound category with 11.5 rebounds per game.
Offensively, Mississippi Valley State is led by Sh'Diamond McKnight who is averaging 11.7 points per game, followed by Clemisha Prackett who has 11.3 points per game.
