Men’s Soccer Battles Back, Falls 3-2 at FIU

MIAMI – UAB Men's Soccer (4-3-3, 1-2 AAC) fell on the road at FIU (4-4-2, 2-1 AAC) by a score of 3-2 on Saturday night. The Blazers battled back in the second half but could not overcome the three-goal deficit.
The Panthers controlled the first half, scoring all three of their goals before the break. FIU opened the scoring in the 33rd minute as Nicolas Villalobos found the back of the net after the ball fell to his feet in the center of the box.
FIU added its second and third goals in quick succession with the first coming off a corner on a header by Leo Vilchis. The third goal was tacked on only 14 seconds later as a bouncing cross reached Vollalobos for his second goal of the night, making it 3-0 for the Panthers.
The Blazers answered in the 51st minute as Gustavo Barbosa's cross into the box found Humphrey Doh, who redirected it into the goal to make it 3-1.
UAB added a second goal late in the match off a corner. Mathis Richter found the back of the net after battling for the ball at the face of the goal to make it 3-2 with 2:40 to go. The Blazers were unable to find the late equalizer, however, falling on the road to FIU.
