Men’s Golf Ties for Seventh at FAU Invitational

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB men's golf team finished in a tie for seventh place at the FAU Invitational this week at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
Paul Bruce led the Blazers with his second top 20 finish of the season by tying for 15th overall at +6. On the Par 71, Bruce opened the tournament with an even par 71 and followed that up with a 73 (+2) in round two and a 75 (+4) in round three.
Morgan Slaton was UAB's second finisher at +8 overall. Slaton shot 70-76-75 and tied for 28th overall.
Jonathan Ericsson finished tied for 40th and was hindered by a final round 82. Ericsson was in third after two rounds by opening the tournament with a 72-69 but shot 11 over in the final round for a final tally of +10.
Freshman Bernhard Koster (76-77-76 = 229, +16) tied for 56th, while Will Stelt (79-80-75 = 234, +21) rounded out the lineup in a tie for 68th.
UAB shot +33 overall as a team. USF (E) won the team title, while Jake Peacock of USF won the individual title at -3.
The Blazers finished the fall portion of their schedule with an overall record of 27-24-4 and open their championship season in Charleston, S.C. on Feb. 3.
