BIRMINGHAM - The UAB Volleyball team will travel to the Midwest to face Tulsa and Wichita State, both for the second time this season. Friday's game will be against Tulsa at 6 p.m. while Sunday's game will be against Wichita State at 1 p.m.
UAB has won three out of their last four games and moved up from 13th to 10th in the AAC Conference Standings.
Tulsa (13-7) got past UAB by a score of 3-2 in late September. The Golden Hurricanes sit at a 5-3 conference record which is tied for third in the AAC. Wichita State (5-3 AAC) was the last loss of UAB's eight game losing streak. The Shockers are 10-10 overall, winning two out of their last three games. UAB has improved a lot since that stretch and has proven that with a much improved hitting percentage over the last four games (.280).
Coach Betsy Freeburg is excited about how the team has responded. "Really proud of our group and their resilience. That is the word they chose at the beginning of the season that they wanted to encompass and they are living it out. With a young team, we are still figuring out how to develop together. We are starting to understand the individual roles and how they work together for the team. and the team is bringing their strengths to each other every day. We keep pushing to get better each day."
