BIRMINGHAM - Michelle Crews enters her 13th season as UAB's bowling coach as the Blazers begin their 2024-25 campaign in Florida.
NEWCOMERS
The UAB Bowling team welcomes four newcomers to the roster: Regina Moreno, Jordan Wingerter, Jenna Webber, and Jordan Shipp. Shipp is the only transfer out of the bunch, coming from Florida A&M University. Moreno recently qualified to compete internationally for Team Mexico for the second straight year.
RETURNERS
UAB returns eight players to the 2024-25 squad: Amber Longwell, Gabriella Moore, Katie Jamison, Victoria Cobos, Madelynn Oliva, Kacey Marshal, Savannah Schneider, and Madison Colston. Cobos and Marshal bring back the most experience as the only two seniors on the team. Savannah Schneider had the highest traditional game with a 289 in the Northeast Classic. She also was 11th in the MEAC Conference with 19.620 average points/frame. Madelynn Oliva showed up in that same tournament scoring a 278. Madison Colston ranked 5th in the conference in 10th frame scoring average with a 19.282.
UAB had three returners ranked in the Player Composite Performance Index (PCPI): Colston, Schneider, and Oliva. Colston ranked the highest with a 61.370% PCPI and 1,127 frames bowled.
SCHEDULE
The 2024-25 season begins tomorrow as the team travels to Orlando, Florida to compete in the Destination Orlando Tournament hosted by Sacred Heart University. The Blazers first conference tournament will be the Meac #1 on Nov. 9-10 at North Carolina A&T State University.
