UAB Volleyball Sweeps Weekend

BIRMINGHAM - UAB Volleyball dominates the weekend with wins over Temple and Charlotte. On Friday night the Blazers defeated Temple 3-0 and on Sunday also swept Charlotte 3-0. This is the first time all year that UAB swept two opponents in one week since last year.
UAB jumped out to a 8-5 lead after a kill by Jorda Crook, this was one of her 15 kills on the night. The Blazers only had three hitting errors, as opposed to 11 from Temple. UAB wins set one 25-21.
Abby Jones showed out in set two with seven kills and just one error. UAB led 7-3 after a six point serving streak by Katia Nikolic and four of Jones's kills. The Blazers continued to execute on through set two, winning 25-19.
Zero hitting errors in the third set led the Blazers to their third sweep of the season.
UAB vs Charlotte
UAB was dominant again in their 3-0 win over Charlotte, only allowing eight points in the third set.
Jorda Crook led the Blazers again with 19 kills and only three errors. She grabbed seven kills in the first set alone. It was a tight first set until the Blazers opened up a five point lead at 20-15, and finished set one with a Mia Reese kill.
Set two and three were all Blazers with 25-17 and 25-8 set wins. Mia Reese had six second set kills, while Crook had 12 combined second and third set kills. Madison Page added five blocks and three kills in her Sunday performance.
UP NEXT
UAB will travel to San Antonio, Texas to play UTSA on Friday night at 4 pm.
