BIRMINGHAM – Sole possession of first place in the American Athletic Conference is on the line as the UAB women's basketball team travels to face North Texas on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Denton.
Both UAB (15-4) and North Texas (16-3) enter the game with a league-best record of 6-1 and the winner of this game will hit the halfway point of conference play sitting alone in first place.
UAB is coming off an 83-81 overtime victory at Wichita State and saw Denim DeShields hit the game-winning basket with 1.3 seconds remaining. DeShields has been unstoppable in AAC play with an averaging of 18.7 ppg in seven conference games so far. She has scored 20+ in three straight contests and continues to lead the league in assists at 5.3.
