Women’s Golf Finishes 13th in Opening Tournament of 2023-24

BIRMINGHAM – This past weekend, the UAB women's golf team opened the 2023-24 season with a 13th place finish in the Golfweek Fall Challenge at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club.
The three-day tournament began on Sunday with UAB shooting its lowest round of the event with a collective 296. As the weekend progressed, the Blazers moved down four spots as a team and finished in thirteenth place at +39.
Ceci Lococo, a freshman from Montgomery, Texas, lead the Blazers at +8, finishing in a tie for 33rd place overall.
After shooting three-over in the opening round (74), Lococo remained consistent in the last two rounds, totaling 221 (74-73-74).
A one-under 70 for junior Anna Krieger in the final round moved her up 26 spots into a tie for 41st overall at +10. Krieger shot 78-75-70 in her first tournament with the Blazers.
Tied for 41st with Krieger was senior Emilia Smith, shooting an even par for her first round (71). Smith would finish the tournament by shooting 71-77-75.
Sophomore Grace Sinclair was UAB's fourth finisher, as she tied for 62nd overall at +15. She shot a three over in the second round (74), with a final score of 228 (77-74-77).
Brooke Wagner rounded out the Blazers' efforts, tying with Sinclair for 62nd overall. She also shot three over in the first round, totaling the weekend with 74-77-77.
The Blazers continue their season next week when they host the Hoover Invite at the Hoover Country Club, Sept. 18-19.
