Blazer Boosters Launches ‘Power Up’ Ahead of Move to AAC

BIRMINGHAM – Blazer Boosters has launched 'Power Up,' which is the newest call to action in support of the UAB Department of Athletics' commitment to championship aspirations as Blazer Athletics prepares to officially join the American Athletic Conference on July 1, 2023.
The focus of Power Up is to maximize philanthropic support to ensure UAB Athletics is resourced stronger than ever to rival new conference peers and position programs to compete at the highest level nationally.
"Our fans have provided a tremendous amount of support to our teams. That support has led to great success, along with an invitation to join the American Athletic Conference," stated Director of Athletics Mark Ingram. "Now, more than ever, we need all of Blazer Nation to join Blazer Boosters if they have not already and recruit someone else to join the cause. Championship trophies require a championship level investment."
Power Up will help continue to grow the Blazer Boosters membership base while engaging and assisting those who show their support for UAB Athletics through their financial generosity. Growing the Blazer Scholarship fund support along with continuing to impact facility enhancements will continue to remain top priorities, and Blazer Boosters will continue to provide additional avenues that support student-athletes on and off the field of play.
The primary facility focus through Power Up will be dedicated to raising funds for the Bartow Arena renovation project, which had Phase 1 of the project approved by the University of Alabama System Board of Trustees on June 9. Pending additional stages of Board of Trustee approvals and sufficient philanthropic support to supplement other funding sources, the proposed Bartow Arena renovations could include an expansion of premium seating and hospitality options to rival American Athletic Conference peer competitor venues, a new scoreboard and ribbon boards, and a home for the UAB Athletics Hall of Fame on the concourse.
"Power Up, Blazer Nation! When you invest in the education, experience, and development of Blazer student-athletes, your impact is the pathway for UAB Athletics to continue its transformation from a program of promise to one of sustained excellence," said Associate Athletic Director/Senior Director of Development Jay Anderson.
With over 450 UAB student-athletes, each gift has a major impact which directly helps our programs win championships, graduate with honors, and make a difference in the community. Fans, alumni, and friends of UAB are encouraged to take the opportunity to renew their contribution or by becoming a Blazer Boosters member with memberships starting at $50 annually.
As UAB Athletics continues to gain unprecedented momentum ahead of its move to the American Athletic Conference, it is time to Power Up by becoming a Blazer Boosters member today. For more information on Blazer Boosters, call (205) 996-9969 or by giving online here.
