UAB Travels to Middle Tennessee for Last Road Series

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Blazers (15-32, 6-18) will travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn. for their final Conference USA road series against Middle Tennessee (23-23, 12-12) starting on Friday, May 12.

UAB enters the weekend sitting with the best fielding percentage in C-USA and 24th Nationally with .978. The Blazers still fall towards the bottom of the overall conference standings (9th) while Middle Tennessee falls amongst the three teams who also sit with a 12-12 record in 6th.
UAB BLAZERS
The Blazers are coming off a tough lost to Alabama State on Tuesday, May 9 after coming from behind to tie the game then losing by one run. During the last conference series against Louisiana Tech, UAB took game three by a score of 6-1 after having dropped the first two games.
Logan Braunschweig continues to lead the team offensively and has batted .316 since March 13 while collecting the most stolen bases of anyone this season (15). Braunschweig also leads the team in hits (47), slugging percentage (.390) and on-base percentage (.419) while Tyler Waugh falls closely behind in batting average (.286) and Christian Hall falls second in hits (45). Hall collected his sixth home run on the year on Sunday, May 7 to earn most homers out of the bunch and most RBI (27).
Starting Rotation:
UAB will stick with Brooks Walton, Blayze Berry and Carson Myers for the starting rotation this weekend. Walton (3-5, 4.92 ERA) is coming off a loss after he allowed seven runs on 12 hits through five innings on the mound. Berry (2-3, 4.52 ERA) spent six innings on the mound during his last outing and allowed only two runs on four hits but received a no decision. Myers (2-5, 3.73) threw one of his best games of the year in game three against Louisiana Tech after he allowed two runs on four hits which secured him the win.
MIDDLE TENNESSEE BLUE RAIDERS
The Blue Raiders enter the weekend at .500 (23-23) after taking one game against No. 18 DBU during their series in Dallas, Texas by a score of 16-8. Middle Tennessee was set to play two mid-week games, but both were canceled. The Blue Raiders have announced Jaden Hamm as the starter on Friday, but the other starters are to be announced at this time.
UAB AND LA TECH HISTORY
Since 2014, Middle Tennessee has a slight lead over UAB in the overall record (18-11). During the last meeting between the two programs, the Blazers took game three of the series by a score of 6-5, but ultimately dropped the series. The Blazers have not taken a series from the Blue Raiders since 2021.
