Walton’s Complete Game Lands Conference USA Pitcher of the Week Honor

BIRMINGHAM – Senior right-hand pitcher Brooks Walton has been named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season after going the distance versus No. 25 UTSA on Friday, April 28.
The Friday starter for UAB earned the weekly honor after throwing a complete game to help secure the Blazers' 4-2 win over No. 25 UTSA in front of a home crowd at Young Memorial Field. Walton allowed two runs – earned – on four hits with three walks and three strikeouts through nine innings. After facing 33 batters, Walton collected an even 2.00 game ERA – his lowest of the season – which brought his overall ERA to 4.31.
This is the Gainesville, Fla. native's second C-USA Pitcher of the Week honor since receiving the nod back in March after he threw into the ninth inning in UAB's win over Power 5 Notre Dame.
The Blazers will meet Birmingham-Southern at Rickwood Field for the second annual Rickwood College Classic on Tuesday, May 2 followed by traveling to Louisiana Tech for a three-game series against the Bulldogs.
