UAB and BSC Meet in Second Annual Rickwood College Classic

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB Blazers (14-29) will play Birmingham-Southern (33-9) in the second annual Rickwood College Classic. First pitch is slated for 1 P.M. in historic Rickwood Field. The two teams played in the inaugural Rickwood College Classic during the 2022 season where the Blazers posted ten runs on the Panthers to secure the win by a score of 10-4.
Opponent: Birmingham-Southern Panthers
Location: Rickwood Field – Birmingham, Ala.
Game Time: 1 P.M. – Gates open one hour prior

All tickets (including UAB and BSC students) are $10 general admission and can only be purchased at the Rickwood box office day of game. Any ticketed fan will be entered into a drawing for the chance to win two Savannah Banana tickets for when the Bananas come to Rickwood in June 24. The winner must be present to claim prize. Fans also can grab a Rickwood College Classic t-shirt for $25.
ABOUT RICKWOOD FIELD
Historic Rickwood Field is famed for being the oldest ballpark in America since being built back in 1910. The park was home of the Birmingham Barons and the Birmingham Black Barons of the Negro Leagues. From 1979-1983, the UAB baseball team played its home games at Rickwood until Young Memorial Field was built in 1984.
UAB and BSU met at Rickwood Field for the first time in 1980.

The Blazers and Panthers first met in 1979 – the first year of UAB Baseball – where the teams split the home-and-home series. UAB leads the overall series record 21-15 which includes taking last year's matchup by a score of 10-4.
