Softball Hosts Louisiana Tech at Mary Bowers Field

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Softball enters April for their weekend series against the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters for C-USA Play.
Due to impending weather, the times for the Louisiana Tech Series have changed. The Green and Gold return to Mary Bowers Field to take on the Lady Techsters on April 6 and 7.
The Blazers finished the weekend with a series win over the UNT Mean Green for their first series win over their future American Athletic Conference foes in five years. They return to Mary Bowers Field for their second-to-last home series of the season.

SCOUTING THE LADY TECHSTERS
Louisiana Tech comes off three losses to BYU, NC State and No. 14 LSU. Despite the loss, the Lady Techsters secured a shutout win over the Wolfpack on March 31. In the 2023 season, LaTech has taken on the likes of LSU, Mississippi State, and ULM.
UAB and LaTech have met over the course of two decades; Louisiana Tech leads the overall series 18 wins to UAB's nine, sweeping the Blazers last season in Ruston. Last season, the Lady Techsters finished with a conference record of 18-6, and concluded their season just shy of 40 wins.
LaTech sits at the top of the pack with a team ERA of 1.90, allowing opposing batters an average of .240. When it comes to players standing out on the LaTech roster, Sierra Sacco comes to mind. Leading the team in batting with an average of .325, with 114 at-bats, the 2022 C-USA Freshman of the year had five at-bats in LaTech's win over ULM on April 4. In the circle, the current C-USA Pitcher of the Week, Mary Martinez sits at an ERA of 1.63 with a W/L percentage of 80.
