UAB Men’s Tennis Goes 2-0 Against Wallace State, Samford

BIRMINGHAM – UAB men's tennis (14-5) beat Wallace State and Samford on Wednesday to reach the program's highest win total since the 2016 season. The Blazers defeated the Lions, 6-1, before traveling to Homewood and taking down the Bulldogs, 5-2.
UAB 6, WALLACE STATE 1
The Blazers took down Wallace State in quick fashion, starting with doubles. UAB won all three doubles matches to get things started. Iker Dellien and Martin Vasquez took Court Two, 6-1, before Nikola Puric and Parker Bradbary secured the point on Court One with a 6-4 decision. Kaustubh Holcomb and Chase Parker won 7-6 on Court Three to conclude doubles play.
In singles play, UAB won five of six matches. Chase Parker won 6-0, 6-0 on Court Five to quickly make it 2-0 for the Blazers. Kaustubh Holcomb won on Court Six shortly afterwards 6-0, 6-1. On Court Four, Iker Dellien secured the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win. Parker Bradbary took Court Two 6-4, 6-2 and Nikola Puric won on Court One 7-6 [7-2], 6-3. The Lions took Court Three in a tiebreak to conclude the match at 6-1.
UAB 5, SAMFORD 2
The Blazers took the second leg of the doubleheader at Samford. UAB started the match by taking Court Two and Court Three in doubles to take a 1-0 start.
Michal Lusovsky improved his singles record to 13-2 on the year with a straight set win (6-4, 7-5). The Bulldogs were able to take both Court Two and Court Three. Noah Malige was able to take Court Four with a 7-5, 6-4 win, also improving his singles record to 13-2.
On Court Five, Georgios Nouchakis won in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 and Carlos Gimenez Perez won on Court Six in a three-set thriller 6-3, 4-6, 10-7.

The Blazers will host Alabama A&M and Wallace State on Friday, April 7 at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
