UAB Beach Volleyball Returns Home for Blazer Beach Bash

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB beach volleyball team returns home to host the Blazer Beach Bash this Saturday and Sunday, April 15-16, at Blazer Beach.
UAB welcomes No. 17 Tulane, Southern Miss and Central Arkansas to Birmingham and plays its final tune up before heading to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. in two weeks for the Conference USA Tournament.
Saturday, April 15:
8 a.m. – Southern Miss vs. Central Arkansas
10 a.m. – No. 17 Tulane vs. Central Arkansas
12 p.m. – UAB vs. Southern Miss
2 p.m. – No. 17 Tulane vs. Southern Miss
4 p.m. – UAB vs. Central Arkansas
Sunday, April 16:
10 a.m. – No. 17 Tulane vs. Central Arkansas
12 p.m. – UAB vs. No. 17 Tulane
The Blazers enter the weekend at 14-13 overall and 2-0 against Conference USA opponents. One of those two C-USA wins came over Tulane in Gulf Shores and UAB looks to defeat the Green Wave for a second time this season and they will likely see Tulane for a third time at the conference tournament.
The Green Wave enter the weekend at 16-8 overall and has three ranked wins this season (No. 12 Stetson, No. 13 Washington, No. 19 South Carolina). Southern Miss is 15-17 overall and this will be the first matchup between UAB and USM this year in a series that the Blazers lead 5-1 all-time.
Central Arkansas is 7-15 overall and Saturday is the third meeting between UAB and UCA this season with the Blazers winning each of the first two by scores of 4-1. UAB has never lost to the Bears in four all-time matches.
SENIOR DAY:
Prior to Saturday's match against Central Arkansas, the Blazers will honor three graduating seniors in Emma Andraka, Ella Alexander and Adriana Pereira. All three Blazers have etched their names into UAB's record book as Andraka is UAB's career leader in wins (55 and counting), Alexander set the single season school record with 22 individual wins in 2022 and ranks top 10 in career victories, and Pereira set the single season Court 1 wins record in 2022 with 20 and was UAB's first First Team All-Conference USA selection in school history.
BLAZER BEACH:
Blazer Beach is located at the corner of 6th Avenue South and 13th Street adjacent from Bartow Arena. The event is free and open to the public. Concessions will be available and fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
