UAB Beach Volleyball Finishes 2-1 at Blazer Beach Bash

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB beach volleyball team finished the Blazer Beach Bash with an overall record of 2-1 this weekend in Birmingham.
The Blazers breezed past Southern Miss and Central Arkansas on Saturday by defeating the Golden Eagles 4-1 and topping UCA 5-0, then fell to No. 17 Tulane 3-2 in heartbreaking fashion on Sunday to conclude the tournament.
Against Tulane, the Blazers and Green Wave were tied at 1-1 following the first flight as Brooke Pertuit and Mikayla Law-Heese won on court two in three sets, 18-21, 23-21, 15-12.
Adren Copping and Jasmine Haas then capped a perfect weekend on Court 1 with a straight set 21-12, 21-16 victory to give the Blazers a 2-1 advantage.
However, the Green Wave then won on Court 3 in three sets, 22-20, 19-21, 16-14, and it all came down to Court 5 as Tulane won the first set 21-18, then pulled off the 30-28 victory in the second set to claim the victory.
The Blazers finished the regular season with an overall record of 16-14 and now turn their attention to postseason play at the Conference USA Tournament which is scheduled for April 27-29 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
The winner of the Conference USA Tournament will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament and UAB will compete against FAU, FIU, Tulane, UTEP and Jacksonville State for the league's at large bid.
